The family will host a Celebration of Life Service for Michael from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. on Saturday, March 26th at the Adair Fire Hall, 505 5th St, Adair. Michael John Elgin was born August 20, 1988 to Missy (Fisher) and John Elgin in Des Moines, Iowa.
He attended and graduated from Adair-Casey High School in 2007. Michael’s love for lawn care came from his relationship with his grandpa Lynn.
He got his start with Jim’s Lawn Care, later moving to Perficut, and even owned his own business for a time.
In 2017, Michael moved to Omaha with Perficut; there he fell in love with Kayla Lufkin, and they were engaged to be married in 2023.
Most recently he worked for Pepsi and was excited to be moving up in the company in the future.
Michael never met a stranger and marched to the beat of his own drum (see front photo). He adored family, especially his brother, Jack and nephew, William, and his dog Mojo.
Michael is survived by his fiancée, Kayla Lufkin of Elkhorn, NE; parents, Missy Fisher of Waukee and John (Rita) Elgin of Adair; grandparents, Red and Pam Fisher of Sun City, AZ, Betty Elgin of Des Moines, and Ken and Rosalie Schmith of Fredericksburg; sisters, Denae (Nick) Michael of Johnston and Jade (Sean) Dugdale of Nashville, TN; brother, Jack Hughes of Waukee; nephew, William Michael of Johnston; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lynn and Alice Elgin and maternal great-grandparents, Wayne and Opal Walter.
As a final act of kindness, Michael chose to be a tissue donor helping numerous others in the future.
