Michelle Lee Kalbach, 53, of Lakeville, Minnesota formerly of Stuart passed away surrounded by her family on March 1, 2023. Celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-4 P.M. on Sunday, April 30th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. There will be an opportunity to share memories of Michelle at 3:30 P.M. Private committal service will be held on Monday, May 1st at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation (www.cjdfoundation.org). Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Michelle was born on April 30, 1969 to Neil and Janice (Knudson) Hoek in Dexter, Iowa. She grew up in Stuart and attended Stuart-Menlo Schools graduating with the class of 1987. Following graduation, Michelle attended Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines, becoming a Registered Nurse. As a Nurse, she started working in Des Moines and lastly working as an Oncology Nurse at Minnesota Oncology in Burnsville as a Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN).
On June 9, 1990 she was united in marriage to John David Kalbach at the First Congregational Church in Stuart. Michelle and John were blessed with two children, Alexander and Keely. The couple lived several places while John was in the Coast Guard before settling in Lakeville, Minnesota in 2007. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending church, singing, reading, watching soap operas and country music. Most of all, she treasured time she was able to spend with her family and friends.
She leaves behind her husband, John David Kalbach; her dog Abby, son, Alexander Kalbach and his son, David; daughter, Keely (Brandon) Keesler and their daughter, Danielle; parents Neil and Janice Hoek; siblings: Pamela Sterns, Scott (Lisa) Hoek, and Jonathan (Donna) Hoek; brother-in-law, Mike Kalbach; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
