Obituary for Mike Joint
Mike Joint, 64, of Stuart passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015. Private family services will be planned for a later date. Cards of condolence may be sent to the family, in care of, Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Online condolences may be sent to www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Mike was born on November 6, 1951 to Roy and Evelyn (Trent) Joint in Hennipen County, Minnesota. He grew up in Menlo and graduated from Menlo High School with the class of 1969. He was blessed with three children: Greg, Jesse and Cole. Mike was first married to Elizabeth Drake and later to Sheri Stanley. He worked several years in construction, working for local contractors.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman, if the weather was nice you would most likely find him sitting outside his camper enjoying the day with a beer in his hand and his Rat Terrier Chico by his side or maybe fishing at the nearby pond. Mike was never a conformist and although some would shake their head at his lifestyle Mike chose to live a life free from most of the everyday anxieties and trials. He was one of those rare people who truly believed that less was more and that to really enjoy life you didn’t need all that much. At Mike’s house his living room was most often sitting by a campfire with a few close friends. Mike loved his children, adored his grandchildren and never failed to leave them laughing. He had nicknames for them all and they looked forward to his constant teasing. He was a natural born comedian and master story teller. Mike could take any event and turn it into one of the funniest most interesting stories you had ever heard. Mike loved to read and his favorite books were Western novels. It is not an exaggeration to say that Mike had read every Western novel ever written and most more than once. Although Mike didn’t have much he would give you the shirt off his back and do anything for anyone. He was always there to lend a helping hand to a friend. Mike was truly one of a kind and will be forever missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Joint.
Mike leaves behind his children, Greg Joint (Christi), Jesse Joint (Brandon), Cole Joint (Amanda); grandchildren, Ryan Michael, Megan, Tye, Alyssa, Kaiya, Katie, Giselle, Emma, Cylir, Jase; brothers, Rick Joint (Terry), Ronnie Joint (Pam), Chuck Joint (Nodja); his Rat Terrier Chico and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
