Obituary for Patricia Ann (Garwood) Bryan
Patricia Ann Bryan was born on November 8, 1938 to Hobart Arrasmith and Edna Ellen (Pine) Garwood. She passed away in Stuart, Iowa on May 8, 2019.

Pat was born in Stuart, Iowa at her grandmother’s house and was educated first in a country school and then attended Dexter High School, graduating in 1957. There she was active in basketball and was Homecoming Queen her senior year.

During high school she spent time with her aunt in Bayard, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Arlen Neil Bryan. Neil and Pat were married on August 30, 1957 at the Dexter United Methodist Church. Their first homes were in Des Moines and the Diamondhead area. During this time Lori and Larry were born. Later, after a move to Dale City, Iowa, Connie and Clint were born.

Until Clint went to school, Pat was a stay-at-home mom who took great pride in doing all the tasks which that entailed. After Clint started kindergarten in 1975, Pat entered the work force as a prep cook at the Harris House Restaurant in Stuart, Iowa where she worked until the business closed in 2000. She was renown by the customers for her mile-high meringues on her cream pies and her delicious cinnamon rolls. Following that she spent a brief time as a cook at the Dexfield Diner in Redfield, Iowa. During this time, she was also a caretaker for her parents, driving them to appointments and helping as needed. When Pat retired from cooking, she stayed home to raise her granddaughters, Joelle, Tatum and Quinn. After the granddaughters went off to elementary school, Pat retired completely.

Throughout her adult life, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts and other activities. She loved to host and attend family gatherings for holidays and birthdays and always brought special treats for the grandkids. She took much pleasure in housework, sticking to a strict routine up until the end. She enjoyed quiet evenings with Neil often crocheting one of her numerous afghans as they watched television together. She also liked to attend Buckskinner Rendezvous and vacations to Tennessee and out west.

Pat was a lifelong Methodist and enjoyed her time as a member of the United Methodist Women.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Edna Garwood, her son, Larry Bryan and her brother, Gary Garwood.

Left to celebrate her life are her husband, Neil Bryan of Stuart, Iowa, daughter Lori Cook and husband Dick of Stuart, Iowa, daughter Connie Bryan-Grubbs and husband Rodney of Casey, Iowa, son Clint Bryan and wife Connie of Bethpage, Tennessee, daughter-in-law Sue Mitchell and husband Cal of Milford, Iowa; her beloved grandchildren, Allen Cook (Michele Saffeels) of Stuart, Iowa, Justin Cook (Gabriel) of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Brandi Coil (Casey) of Stuart, Iowa, Brandie Newberg (Brett) of Norwalk, Iowa, T.J.
