Paul Heins, 89, of Dexter passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Adel Acres. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, September 28th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart, a prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, September 29th at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Paul Heins Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Paul was born May 11, 1929 in rural Platte Center, Nebraska to Henry and Pauline Behle Heins. Paul graduated from Panora High School in Panora, Iowa with the class of 1949.
On February 1, 1951 Paul enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea as a corporal. He was honorably discharged on February 5, 1953.
On May 8, 1954, Paul was united in marriage to Viola Veasman at St. Marys, Iowa Catholic Church. To this union, Paul was blessed with three children: Gina Charlet (Dennis) of Adel, David Heins of Des Moines and Deanna Heins (Brian Jennings) of Baltimore, Maryland. Paul lived with his wife and family near Chicago, until 1958, then moving to a farm northwest of Stuart, Iowa. Paul loved farming and his family more than anything. He was a long-time member of All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart and his church was a very significant part of his life.
Paul is survived by his wife, Viola; son, David; daughter, Deanna; grandchildren: Aaron, Andrew and Mark Charlet and Chasity Heins. He has one surviving sister, Lucille of Columbus, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcella; brother, Walter; daughter, Gina; and grandson, John Heins.
