Obituary for Ray "Bud" Lenocker
Ray “Bud” Lenocker, 94 of Dexter passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, March 1st at the Dexter United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 2nd at the Dexter United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Penn Center Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dexter United Methodist Church and/or the Dexter Fire and Rescue. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Bud was born on July 31, 1924 to Guy and Ora (Morford) Lenocker in Dexter, Iowa. He attended Dexter Schools and graduated from Dexter High School with the class of 1941. Following graduation he was drafted into the Army, before electing to join the Marines Corp. Following basic training, he was sent to the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Bud was honorably discharged in 1946 from the US Marines Corp; an honor that remained with him his whole life.

On February 26, 1947, Bud was united in marriage to Betty McMenamin in Stuart, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born: Mary Ann, Susan and Sandy. The couple farmed for 30 years before retiring in 1979. The couple later moved to town and for the last ten years he lived at The Willows in Stuart and later the Stuart Community Care Center. In addition to farming Bud worked as the Dexter Postmaster for 2 years, Iowa DOT for 7 years and worked part time at the Stuart Vet Clinic, Morrison Chevrolet, Kuhn Funeral Homes and the Waukee Car Auction.

Bud was a 73 year member of the Dexter American Legion and longtime member of the Dexter United Methodist Church. He loved to play golf, have morning coffee at the Dexter Café and socialize at the Dexter Legion Hall. Bud was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed playing cribbage and won the State Cribbage Tournament in 1998. He also enjoyed refurbishing toy John Deere tractors and machines.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, Guy and Ora; and siblings: Robert Lenocker, Fern Algreen, Paul Lenocker, Fred Lenocker, Jasper Lenocker and Mary Shields.

Bud leaves behind his daughters: Mary Ann Peer of West Des Moines, Susan (Rod) Clark of Adel, and Sandy (Doug) Henderson of Marion; sister, Ruth Loftis; grandchildren: Brent (Suzanne) Belding, Troy (friend-Jen) Apple, Craig (Robin) Peer, Brad Belding and Tami (Roy) Rice; great-grandchildren: Lauren and Dawson Peer, Dallas (Kayla) Apple, Zack (Danielle), Austin (friend-Chasity), Tyler and Kaden Rice, Derek (Mackenzie), Erika, Erin and Jessica Belding; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
