Richard “Rick” Greg Harden, 67 of Casey passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at his home. Graveside funeral service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, May 23rd at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Rick was born on June 20, 1954 to Richard and Gwendolyn (Watson) Harden in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in the Des Moines area and attended Urbandale High School. Following graduation, Rick enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably. He later attended DMACC and received an associate’s degree in nursing. In his early years, he worked at Quick Café in West Des Moines, Capitol City Ambulance and later the West Des Moines Police Department.
On November 1, 1989 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Lambert. The couple lived in Yuma, Arizona where they were both ICU nurses. The couple moved to Casey in 2002 and Rick worked as an ICU nurse at the VA Hospital in Des Moines until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, playing computer games, eating out and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gwendolyn Harden and his son, Jeremy Harden.
He leaves behind his wife, Marilyn of Casey; a son from previous marriage, Richard Harden Jr.; sister, Phyllis (Todd) Neil of Grimes and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
