Robert “Bob” G. Dickson Jr., 93 of Menlo passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Stuart Community Care Center. A private family funeral service will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert Dickson Memorial Fund. Bob was born on June 20, 1926 to Robert “Glenn” Sr. and Ruby (Fritz) Dickson at the family farm outside of Menlo. He grew up on the farm and attended Menlo Schools. While in high school he was active in many activities including: band, football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Menlo High School with the class of 1944. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy from January of 1946 to November of 1947 and was stationed in San Diego. He was united in marriage to Mary Lillie on August 25, 1949 at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. To this union five children were born: Jim, Jerry, Karen, Joyce and Craig. Bob was a lifelong farmer and Menlo resident.
Bob was a member of the Menlo American Legion Post #511, Menlo Methodist Church, Beaver Township Trustee for 35 years, Menlo Fire Board for 32 years, Guthrie County Farm Bureau Board, Telephone Board and the Menlo School Board for 9 years. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and building model barns and airplanes. He loved to go dancing and fishing. Most of all he treasured the time he was able to spend with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary and sister, Elaine Johnson.
He leaves behind his children: Jim (Dianne) Dickson, Jerry (Janet) Dickson, Karen (Mark) Frisbie, Joyce (Roger) Tibben and Craig (Terri) Dickson; grandchildren: Ryan Dickson, Eric Dickson, Matt Dickson, Mike Dickson, Brad Dickson, Angela Boettner, Jennifer Lesac, Chris Tibben, Clint Tibben, Amy Tibben and Randy Tibben; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sr. Judene (Ann) Lillie and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
