Robert Lee Baker, 87, of Casey passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7th at the Rapids Street Baptist Church in Adel. Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 8th at the Rapids Street Baptist Church in Adel. Time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert Lee Baker Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Bob was born on February 23, 1932 to Albert and Maude (Traster) Baker in Grundy County, Missouri. He grew up in the Trenton, Missouri area. On June 3, 1953 he was united in marriage to Ruby Allen. To this union five children were born: Dennis, Doris, Brad, Bruce and Kim. The couple made their home in numerous areas before lastly settling north of Casey. Bob spent his working career farming and working as a welder at a manufacturing plant. In his spare time he loved fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. He was a skilled mechanic especially working on old tractors. He loved traveling to Branson and listening to Southern Gospel groups.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; and brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Sis Baker.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Ruby; children: Doris (Joe) Teply of Mankato, MN, Brad Baker (Don Easley) of Des Moines, Bruce (Cindy) Baker of Redfield and Kim Baker of Des Moines; grandchildren: Carter (Paula) Teply, Melissa Teply (Ryan Lund), Heather (Eric) Cooprider, Megan (Frank) Doherty, Angel (Devon) Osberg, Stormy Baker (Sam Miller), Justin Baker, and Cody Tonelli; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Joey, Danny, Emily, Dexter, Charlie, Ruby, Ellie, Maddie, Rosie, Denon, Dega, DJ, Owen and Levi; brothers: Harold (Doris) Baker of Trenton, MO, James (Faith) Baker of Trenton, MO, and Donald (Patty) Baker of Jameson, MO; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
