Ronald was born on a farm Northeast of Orient, Iowa on September 7, 1931 to Dale and Emma (Schiller) Keating. He started school at Orient then Richland until 1943 when the family moved to a farm Southeast of Casey. It was a one room country school until High School in 1946. Ron graduated from Casey High School in May, 1950. He then farmed with his Dad until February, 1951 when he enlisted in the US Navy until January, 1955. He served on two ships during the Korean War in the Pacific. Upon his honorable discharge he farmed with his Dad until 1956 when he was married to Patricia Ann Ehrsam on April 14, 1956. Pat worked as Deputy Recorder in Adair County until December 11, 1957 when Glenda Sue was born. Ron still farmed with his Dad until 1962 when his father decided to sell his property and retire to Casey. Good jobs were hard to find, but Ron began working at Armstrong Tire in 1964 until his retirement in 1995.

Ron enjoyed working on his lawn, in the garden, attending church and weekend farming. He also spent time traveling, collecting coins and collecting guns. Most of all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends; especially around Christmas time.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Emma and Dale Keating; wife, Pat Keating; and brother, Dick Keating.

He leaves behind his wife Phyllis of Stuart; daughter, Glenda (Joe) Moore of Casey; grandchildren, Justin Moore of Casey and Allison (Mike) Eicher of Des Moines; several step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family that will miss him dearly.
