Sherry Foresman, 72 of Des Moines, formerly of Menlo passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Graveside funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, May 26th at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Menlo. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Sherry was born on October 31, 1947 to Orville and Helen (Amsbaugh) Foresman in Atlantic, Iowa. She attended Menlo Schools and graduated from Menlo High School with the class of 1966. Following graduation she attended AIB School of Business graduating in 1967. Sherry spent most of her life living in West Des Moines, Urbandale and Des Moines. She worked various cashier jobs during her working career, mainly working for Polk County Social Services. Sherry’s true passion was genealogical work. Through her love of genealogy she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Menlo, Colonial Dames, State Historical Society, Iowa Genealogical Society, Daughters of Union Veterans of The Civil War, Guthrie County Genealogical Society, Adair County Genealogical Society, and the Adair County Anquestors Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Garyl Miller.
Sherry leaves behind her siblings, Cathy Miller of Indianola and Gary (Patricia) Foresman of Patrick AFB, Florida; sister-in-law, Norma Foresman of Jefferson; nieces and nephews: Stacy (Ronny) Defenbaugh of Perry, Steven (Caroline) Foresman of Sycamore, IL and Scott Foresman of Jefferson; great-nieces and nephews: Lane Pace, Emily Pace, Connor Sackett, Annelise Foresman, Drew Foresman, Maggie Foresman, Ryan Foresman; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
