Obituary for Veronica Lynn "Ronnie" Henderson

Veronica Lynn Henderson, affectionately known as Ronnie, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on December 21, 1965, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Mary Springer and Art Ortiz. She was raised by her mother and stepdad Dean Springer.

Ronnie met the love of her life, Jim Henderson, while attending Stuart-Menlo High School, and they later solidified their union in marriage on March 3, 1990, at the Congregational Church in Stuart, Iowa. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Stuart, where they were blessed with a son, Andrew, who, along with his wife Skylar, brought the joy of a grandsons, Callum and Logan, into Ronnie's life.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim; her loving son, Andrew (Skylar); her cherished grandson, Logan; her brothers, Mark (Kim) Ortiz and Paul (Char) Overton; her stepfather, Dean Springer; her stepsisters, Ninette (Ed) Jones-Mangrum and Trish Rehard; brothers-in-law, Jeff and Dave Henderson; her best friend, Barb Boss; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will all miss her deeply.

Ronnie was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Springer; her sister, Katie Straight; her grandson, Callum Henderson; and her in-laws, Joan and Keith Henderson.

A proud graduate of Martensdale St. Mary’s high school with the class of 1984, Ronnie's early encounters with Jim blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Her career was marked by her compassionate nature, having worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a profession she truly loved. Ronnie spent several fulfilling years at the Stuart Community Care Center and later at the Adair Care Center before it closed. Her final professional chapter was with ITW in Guthrie Center, where she continued to make a positive impact on those around her.

Ronnie's interests were a reflection of her loving spirit. She had a green thumb, cultivating beauty in her garden, and her talent for scrapbooking, crafts, and sewing brought joy to many. An excellent cook and baker, she often shared her delicious creations with family and friends. Above all, Ronnie's main passion in life was helping people, a trait that defined her every action and interaction.

Those who knew Ronnie will remember her as a beacon of love and kindness. Her passion for life and her ability to touch the lives of others were unmatched. Ronnie's legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and a willingness to always lend a helping hand or a listening ear.

As we say goodbye to Veronica Lynn Henderson, we celebrate a life lived with boundless love and an enduring passion for helping those around her. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and her spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of the community she so dearly loved. Ronnie's presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact she made on the world will undoubtedly carry on for generations to come.
