Wyona Marcella Williams was born July 30, 1918, to Clarence Harrison and Minnie Carolina (Petri) Floyd at their farm home Northwest of Casey, Iowa in Thompson Township. She received her elementary education at Thompson #4 for 9 years, Casey High School for 2 years, and 1 year at Adair High School. Of these twelve years she was never absent or tardy. She helped with gardening, chores, driving horses and mowing hay until the tractor came along.
She was married to Donald Lee Williams at the Methodist Church in Atlantic, Iowa on October 11, 1935. They moved to the farm where they lived until Donald entered the care center in Stuart, Iowa. Wyona remained on the farm until she moved to the Willows in Stuart, Iowa. They had four children, Norwyn, Dolores, Dean and Darlene. They worked daily on the farm until they retired. You seldom saw one without the other one. When their chores were done for the day, and supper was over you would find the six playing cards until bedtime. Usually the girls against the boys. They raised cattle, hogs, sheep, and chickens, and planted a large garden and did a lot of canning. She enjoyed cooking for her family and had many family dinners. Making buns, cinnamon rolls, noodles, mac and cheese, angel food cake from scratch, and other delicious foods.
Wyona served in many offices with the Thompson Township PTA. She belonged to the Merry Circle, the United Methodist Women’s Group, of which she held many offices and was treasurer for 30 years. She always enjoyed quilting with the women’s group.
She was baptized at the Casey United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member and served on the church board.
She enjoyed summer vacations, rodeos, and going to the Iowa State Fair, mowing the yard, and all of her church quilting get togethers. She was an avid gardener and was proud of her blooming cactus, and various other flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents Clarence and Minnie Floyd, her sons Clarence Norwyn Williams and Donald Dean Williams, her daughter Dolores Ferguson, her sons-in-law Bob Ferguson and Kenneth Eggerss, her grandson Jon Williams, and her sister Lucille Maas and her husband Truman Maas.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Darlene Eggerss of Avoca, daughters-in-law Jean Williams of Plano, TX and Phyllis Williams of Stuart, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
