Zachary Christopher Kays, a cherished son, brother, and friend, left us on the 2nd of March 2025, at the age of 23. Born on September 26, 2001, in Des Moines, Iowa, Zach’s journey began as a beacon of joy for his loving parents, Nicole Peterson Lindberg and Christopher Kays.
Growing up in Stuart, Zach’s early life was filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, including his step-dad, Chris Lindberg, and his siblings Gabbi Kays, Andrew Munoz, Bella Munoz, and Alexa Lindberg, who each shared a unique and unbreakable bond with him. The loved shared between Zach and his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins will forever be cherished. His grandparents, Jack Peterson, and Joanie Lindberg, great grandparents Earline and Dean Stanley, Marjorie McNelly, and Janet Lewis, enveloped him in love and wisdom, laying the foundation for the compassionate and spirited young man he would become.
Zach's educational journey took him from the halls of West Central Valley into the expansive learning environment of the State of Iowa Job Corps, where he honed his skills and prepared for a future as bright as his smile. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the diverse landscapes of Colorado and Arizona, experiences that enriched his life and broadened his horizons before he returned to his roots in Iowa.
Professionally, Zach was known as a jack of all trades, embracing a variety of jobs with enthusiasm and dedication. His work ethic and versatility were only matched by his generosity, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Zach’s interests painted the picture of a life lived to the fullest. His immense love for animals reflected his tender soul, while his enjoyment of playing pool, fishing, and embracing the great outdoors showcased his adventurous spirit. Whether he was riding four-wheelers and dirt bikes, losing himself in the melodies of his favorite music, engaging in video games, or simply taking long drives with family and friends, Zach’s love for life was contagious.
A natural jokester, Zach had an uncanny ability to light up any room with laughter and smiles. His playful demeanor was a testament to his loving nature, and his role as a big brother was one, he took immense pride in, especially when it came to his little sister, Alexa.
Zach will be remembered as a loving, funny, and spirited soul—a beacon of light who brightened the lives of all who knew him. While his time with us was far too short, the impact he made will resonate for generations to come. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Ronda McNelly Hanner, great-grandfather, Gary McNelly, grandfather, Michael Kays, grandmother, Patty Grace, and grandfather, Steve Grace, who have now welcomed him with open arms.
As we bid farewell to Zachary Christopher Kays, we honor his memory by embracing the joy, laughter, and kindness he brought into our lives. His spirit will forever dance in the minds of those he so dearly loved, and his story will remain etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Zachary, you may have left the physical world, but your legacy of love and laughter will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Summit Gove in Stuart. Professional arrangements by Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart.
