Obituary for John David Heins
John Heins, 33, of Rhodes, formerly of Stuart passed away on July 28, 2014 of a broken heart. Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 P.M. on Friday, August 1st at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held at 7 P.M. on Friday, August 1st at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Private family burial will be held at South Oak Grove in Stuart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be directed to the On With Life Foundation and/or the International Bipolar Foundation, in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250. John was born on June 3, 1981 to David and Sherry (Disney) Heins. He was born and raised in Stuart and graduated from West Central Valley High School with the class of 2000. In school he enjoyed wrestling and football and excelled in the classroom. After high school he attended DMACC and was hired after graduation with Casey’s Corporate as a Computer Programmer. He had been employed at Casey’s Corporate for the last ten years. On June 17, 2006 he was united in marriage to Gabrielle Simpson.
John enjoyed spending time with his brother fishing, camping and working on old cars. He loved the Chicago Bears football team and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team. He was an avid video game player holding many records.
John left us all with a quote and a goal to achieve: “Become champions of mental illness awareness and sometimes drugs are not the answer, but friends and family are.” Even in his passing John hoped to bring light and help to those with mental illnesses. His unconditional love for everyone will always be remembered.
John was preceded in death by his grandfather: Richard Disney; grandparents: Vern and Mildred Ludwig; special-aunt: Gina Charlotte; and special great-uncle: Gary Wilson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife: Gabrielle Heins; father: David Heins, mother: Sherry Ludwig; step-father: Roger Ludwig; siblings: Chasity Heins and Orie Ludwig; step-sisters: Lisa (Michael) Hopkins and Kim Ludwig; maternal-grandparents: Joyce and Walter Hick; paternal-grandparents: Viola and Paul Heins; mother and father-in-law: Debbie and Randy Simpson; brothers-in-law: Josh, Joel and Jacob Simpson and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.
