Obituary for Charlotte Sue Jackson
Charlotte Sue Jackson, 91, of Stuart (formerly of Redfield) passed away, September 18, 2021, at the Stuart Community Care Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart Chapel. Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 24th in the Wiscotta Cemetery in Redfield followed by fellowship and a light luncheon at the Redfield Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte’s name to the Stuart Community Care Center and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. For the visitation and the graveside, the family is requiring masks be worn. Charlotte was born November 21, 1929, to John and Bethel (McKinney) Baker in Redfield, Iowa. She grew up in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to James C. Jackson on June 20, 1948, in Redfield, Iowa and to this union two children were born, Melinda and John. They both worked for JM Cleminshaw Company until 1950, when they moved to a farm in Bagley and operated a dairy farm. In 1955, they both went back to work at JM Cleminshaw and they traveled extensively with the company until settling in Davenport in 1982 where they made their home until moving back to Redfield in 2002. Once settled back in Redfield, Charlotte worked as the hostess at the Redfield Diner for several years before retiring. Charlotte was also known for her pies she’d bake for the restaurant, family, and friends. Charlotte was an active member of the Redfield United Methodist Church where she belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Group. Her main pastime was spent with her church groups, scouts, teaching Sunday School, and her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bethel Baker, her beloved husband, James in 2014, and siblings, Katie Simpson, Bertie Padilla, Karen Rhoten.
Charlotte leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister Patricia (Lester) Parry of Lemoore, CA.; brother John (Rilla) Baker Jr. of Stuart, IA.; beloved children, Melinda (Rev. Dr. Keith) Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska and John (Catherine) Jackson of Winterset, Iowa; grandchildren, Jay Jackson, Bethany (Chris Wacker) Johnson, Sergio Johnson, Justin Jackson and Elizabeth (Jeff) O’Conner; great granddaughter, Izabella O’Conner, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
