Mildred was born on December 28, 1919 on a farm in Guthrie County northeast of Stuart, Iowa. She was the 4th daughter of George and Myrtle (Hall) Stanley. She grew up on several farms in that area and attended country schools. She learned to sew at an early age. She made most of her clothes, also sewed for the family and then her children when they were growing up. Mildred loved to do any kind of crafts, especially crocheting beautiful doilies. In 1940, she married Alford Belding. They were blessed with two daughters, Lois and Phyllis. Alford passed away in 1960 with heart problems. In 1963, Mildred was united in marriage to Joe Lemar and was blessed with another daughter Susan Kay. Mildred joined the All Saints Catholic Church and was a faithful member of the Altar and Rosary and the Catholic Daughters. Joe was a famer and she loved the farm. They worked together helping each other and always had a big garden. They always had enough to can and freeze and share with friends. At harvest time, the workers always had home cooked meals. The workers loved it, and Mildred would always get compliments on her good cooking, especially her pies and homemade bread. She enjoyed her grandchildren, each and every one of them. Mildred, always looked forward to their visits when they brought their little suit cases and stayed a week or two with grandma. After Joe retired, they decided to spend the winter months in Arizona for 25 years. Then their health started failing so they moved back to Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrtle, both husbands, Alford and Joe, daughters, Lois Hochstetler and Phyllis Scott, siblings, Opal Brink, Marjorie Speedling, Louise Kading, Ruby Hodge, Esther Lister and Gerald and Gene Stanley, son-in-law, Bill Hochstetler, granddaughters, baby Barbara Marnin, baby Sela Weyer and baby David Weyer Jr.

Mildred leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter, Susan (Jay) Butler; sister-in-laws, Kay Stanley and Mary Ann Lemar; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her greatly. (Professional Arrangements: Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart).
