Obituary for Paul Douglas Steen
Paul Douglas Steen, 61, of Stuart, formerly of Greenfield passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha. Memorial visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 12th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Paul was born March 8, 1953 to Leonard and Naomi (Hansen) Steen in Audubon, Iowa. He grew up in Elk Horn and graduated from Elk Horn/Kimballton High School. Following graduation he attended Iowa Western Community College and Indiana School of Mortuary Science. Upon graduation he followed his calling to serve as a funeral director. On April 5, 1975 he was united in marriage to Connie Hansen in Elk Horn, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Katie, Kylie, Karmyn and Klayton. The family made their home in Greenfield. He owned and operated Steen Funeral Homes in Greenfield, Fontanelle, Massena and Kimballton for over 20 years. He was dedicated to the community he served and was kind to all that he came into contact with. In 1998, he sold his funeral homes. Paul then moved to Des Moines and most recently Stuart for the past three years.
In his spare time Paul enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR racing and flying his plane. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, wonderful neighbors in Stuart and his beloved dog Buffy.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Naomi Steen.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories are his children: Katie (Shane) Powell of Stuart, Kylie (Kurt) Harter of Polk City, Karmyn (Tad) Watson of Stuart and Klayton Steen of Clive; grandchildren: Carson Powell, Breanna Powell, Logan Powell, Preston Brown, Kohen Harter, Madden Watson and Mavryk Watson; siblings: David (Bev) Steen of Elk Horn, Kathy Paulsen of Omaha, Mark Steen of Omaha and Clark Steen of Omaha; special friend: Maggie Steen and a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
