Obituary for Joanne Elaine Nulph
Joanne Elaine Nulph, 74 of Waukee passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, November 27th at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Stuart. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stuart Food Pantry. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Joanne was born on December 28, 1943 to Lewis and Virginia (Waxmunsky) Van Alstine in Clarinda, Iowa. She grew up in Clarinda and moved to Adel after the 6th Grade. She finished her schooling at Adel High School and graduated with the class of 1962. She later attended DMACC where she studied Marketing. She worked as a Buyer at Younkers for several years before staying at home and raising the children.
On July 15, 1972 she was united in marriage to Larry Nulph in Las Vegas. The couple lived in Stuart for 28 years before lastly moving to Waukee in 2009. She was a member of the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, past president of the UMW, PEO and in the China Painting Club. She was an active volunteer at the library and care center. She attended bible study classes at the church and with the Menlo bible study group.
In her spare time, she enjoyed China painting, traveling and gardening. She loved to go swimming and shopping for a good deal. Most importantly she treasured time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Virginia Van Alstine.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry of Waukee; children, Todd Winchester of Urbandale and Nicole (Maher) Saegh of Clive; grandchildren, Cale Winchester and Matthew Saegh; brother, Larry (Pam) Van Alstine of Springfield, IL; nephew, Lee Van Alstine; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
