Obituary for Mary Darlene Chinberg
Mary Darlene Chinberg, 83, of Redfield passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at HCI-Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 9th at the Redfield Christian Church. Lunch will follow at the Redfield Legion Hall. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Redfield Christian Church and sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Darlene was born December 1, 1931 to Scott and Ruby Madren Thompson in Redfield, Iowa. She went to grade school in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School. She was united in marriage to Robert “Buck” Chinberg on May 25, 1950 in Redfield. To this union they were blessed with three children: Dennis, Don and Linda. She lived all her life in Redfield. She worked for her parents at Thompson Grocery, owned and operated Chinbergs DX, worked at the tile plant and for 11 years as a Head Start Associate. She loved cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Buck”; parents, Scott and Ruby; son, Don; daughter, Linda Smith; and several siblings.
Darlene leaves behind her son, Dennis of Redfield; siblings, Bob Thompson of Waukee and Judy Bell of Jefferson; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss her dearly.
