Obituary for Ronald Dean Dupuy
Ronald Dean Dupuy, 69 of Creston passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. on Sunday, February 24th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, February 25th at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Chicken Inn – Creston. Ron was born on June 26, 1949 to Albert and Jane (Terry) Dupuy in Guthrie County, Iowa. He grew up in Casey and later moved to Menlo where he graduated from Menlo High School with the class of 1967. After Graduation he attended Northwest Missouri State and played football for one year. Ron then enlisted in the US Army where he served for four years stationed in Germany. Ron was united in marriage to Karen Powell on June 28, 1969 at St. John’s Basilica in Des Moines. To this union two children were born, Karey and Kevin. The couple made their home in Ankeny before settling in rural Adair County. Karen passed away in 2006. Ron later married Karen Maeder-Payton on July 25, 2015 at the Historical Church in the Park in Creston. The couple made their home outside of Creston.

Ron worked at Firestone Tires as a factory laborer and Union Leader; later getting into property management where he started Keyway Management in 2005. He was a member of the Menlo American Legion. He loved singing and playing music and was inducted into the National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame. He played with Coon Ridge Country, Country Classics Band and was a regular at the Oak Tree Opry. Ron treasured time he was able to perform at the Chicken Inn in Creston and participating in Country musical festivals. Most of all, Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen; siblings: Donna, Dody, Norma, Gary, and Carol and their respective spouses’.

Ron leaves behind his wife, Karen; daughter, Karey (Nate) Smith of Stuart and their children: Brooke (fiancé-John McKinney), Matt, and Nick; son, Kevin (Angie) Dupuy of Stuart and their children, Grace and Gavin; siblings, Rick (Sandy) Dupuy of Waukee and Vicki Lainson of Des Moines; brothers-in-law, Doug (Janice) Powell and Dean (Mary) Porter; step-son, Mike (Laurie) Haynes of Creston; step-daughter, Charlene (Kevin) Franklin of Dexter and their families; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
