Obituary for Karla Rae Day
Karla Rae Day, 55, of Stuart passed away at her home on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th from 6-8 P.M. at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 10:30 A.M. at Penn Center United Methodist Church, rural Earlham. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Karla Day Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250. Karla was born September 8, 1959 to Lyle and Dolores (Dunbar) Summy in Redfield, Iowa. She grew up in Earlham and attended Earlham Community Schools. On October 11, 1975 she was united in marriage to Fred Day at Penn Center United Methodist Church in rural Earlham. To this union two sons were born Jeremy and Jason. The family made their home in Earlham. Karla worked several jobs as manager of convenience stores and telemarketing. She relocated to Des Moines and then finally settled in Stuart.
Karla enjoyed reading, attending races, playing with her dogs and supporting her children with their activities. She loved spending time with her grandsons and baking Christmas fudge with her granddaughter Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kevin.
