Obituary for Mary Louise Brown
Mary Louise Brown, 75, of Stuart, Iowa went to her Heavenly Home on April 13, 2015 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Stuart Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 17 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held in the Dexter Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mary Brown Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, 123 NE 2nd Street, Stuart, Iowa 50250. Mary was born in Winterset on April 1, 1940 to Harold L. Brown and Lucille (Wheeler) Brown. She had five brothers: Harold “Junior” died in infancy, Darvin (Doris), Roy (Deloris), Doug (Ruth), Dan (Diana), , and two sisters, Deloris “Dori” Houseman (Allan) and Edith Jane Brown. Mary grew up in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School in 1957. She attended Beauty School and became a hair dresser. She had two daughters, Dawn Renslow (Cliff) of Stuart and Renee Jones (Bob) of Menlo. She also had two step-sons, Darcy Kearns (Becky) of Dexter and Jimmy Kearns. Mary was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Shannon Renslow Maddux (Scott), Michael Renslow (Kristen), Josh Renslow (Kristina), Crystal Renslow, Annesta Jones Guerrero (Jose Luis Guerrero), Casey Jones, Logan Jones, Cole Kearns, Mitchell Kearns and Bryce Kearns. She has 9 great-grandchildren, Stephen Maddux, Sydnie Maddux, Alex Halligan, Nathan Bentler, Addison Renslow, Zayla Renslow, Brayden Cunningham, Charlotte Guerrero and Sophia Guerrero.
Mary has accepted Jesus as her personal savior in 1974. She served God with joy and was a member of the Heartland Baptist Church n Stuart. She was very active in her church and VBS which was a source of hope and inspiration for her. Mary loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play football, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball. She also had a great love for animals. She worked various jobs throughout her life and worked at the Stuart Community Care Center up until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roy (Deloris) Brown, Edith Jane Brown, infant sister, brother, Harold “Junior” Brown, Dori (Allen) Housman, special family friend, Jim Kearns, and her step-son, Jimmy Kearns.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two daughter and son-in-laws, one step-son and daughter-in-law, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 9 great-grandchildren, three brothers and their spouses, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
