Obituary for Dale Douglas Custard
Dale Douglas Custard, 65, of Stuart, Iowa passed away August 28, 2019 in Stuart. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dale Custard Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Dale was born November 16, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to William Kenneth and Katherine Loretta (Mullenix) Custard. He was raised in Des Moines and attended Lincoln High School. Following high school, Dale enlisted into the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Kennedy before being honorably discharged on June 9, 1975. He was united in marriage to Roslin Reynolds and together they became the proud parents of one daughter, Shawna. Following their marriage they lived in Norfolk, Virginia for a time before moving back to the Des Moines area. Following their divorce. Dale then met Lori Gilmore and together they had one son, Chad. In Dales later years, he met Marsha and together they moved to Stuart. He loved the small town life and it wasn’t long before he called Stuart home. It was through Marsha he became a step-father to Donnie. Marsha preceded Dale in death on May 31, 2017. Dale worked as a truck driver all his life being employed by Jacobson’s Trucking in Des Moines for several years and the last few years were spent at Rose Acre Farms. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed a good laugh.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marsha; parents, William and Katherine and one brother, Glenn Custard.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Shawna Hetherington of Indianola, Iowa, son, Chad Robinson of Tucson, Arizona and one step-son, Donnie McVey of Stuart, Iowa; grandchildren, Madelyn, Emily and Ava Hetherington; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Custard of Norwalk, Iowa and Neil Custard of Des Moines, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
