Ronald Dean Coppick Jr., 55, of Des Moines passed away on December 28, 2015 at the University Park Nursing and Rehab in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:30 P.M. on Monday, January 4th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Memorial contributions may be directed the Ronald Coppick Jr. Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Ron was born January 10, 1960 to Ronald and Neva (Duke) Coppick in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended Des Moines Public Schools and graduated from East High School with the class of 1978. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he attended boot camp. Following a second enlistment he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. Ron returned home to Des Moines in 1993. He was blessed to raise his son Leighton, who was born in 1995.
Ron loved spending time outdoors; especially hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid Oakland Raiders fan and served on the teams honor guard for the national anthem. He worked last at FedEx in Des Moines, a job that he thoroughly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Neva Coppick.
Ron leaves behind his children: Leighton Coppick, Nicholas Coppick, Andrew Coppick and Melissa Coppick; father, Ronald Dean Coppick Sr.; sisters, Ronda (Mark) Brandenburg and Sheral Coppick; nieces: Emma (Brian) Swedberg, Leah (Nick) Thomas, Olivia Brandenburg; and a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
