Gerald was born September 14, 1927 to Hallett and Ruth (Brandell) Harvey on the family farm in rural Guthrie County, Iowa. He attended rural school before attending Redfield High School, where he graduated with the class of 1945. As a baby he won baby grand champion at the county fair. He enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and family, playing cards, music, and most of all, farming the land.Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia, of 68+ years; and parents, Hallett and Ruth Harvey, sister, Margery Dudley.
