Bev was born October 26, 1934 in Audubon, Iowa to Thomas Cris and Ella Helena Brensel Kroger, the tenth of twelve children. She graduated with the Audubon High School class of 1952. After graduating she worked in factories and travelled, visiting siblings in California and working for a short time in Ohio while staying with her brother Kenneth and his wife. After returning to Audubon she met Donald Carl Obermeier and they married August 21, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married 48 years when he passed away January, 2003. After their marriage she and Don moved to a farm between Audubon and Atlantic where their 2 oldest daughters were born, then to a farm north of Audubon where their third daughter was born, before moving to Audubon in 1959 where 2 daughters and a son were born. She lost her only son Donald Carl Obermeier Jr. at 7 months old December 26, 1965.
Bev enjoyed reading romance novels and visiting with friends and relatives, playing cards and drinking coffee and going to the casino. It was important to her to get up in the wee hours of the morning to spend time with her husband for coffee before he left for work and to have supper ready when he got home. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was deeply loved by them. At the end of her life her eyesight and hearing failed her, but she never lost her cheerful spirit.
Bev is survived by 5 daughters, Donita and husband Robert Elliott of Bedford, Texas, Brenda Malley of Atlantic, Iowa, Lorraine and husband Bob Haberl of Rockwell City, Iowa, Valerie and husband Dan Clary of Lewisville, Texas, and Janine Glidden and partner Bob Hartl of Audubon, Iowa; 12 grandchildren Kristi Sunberg, Melissa Elliott, Melinda Hunnicutt, Amber Hartl, Rachel Haberl, Sara Bonnesen, Robert Glidden, Dustin Harberl, Samantha Malley, Jessi August, Taylor Petzenhauser and Matthew Glidden, 24 great grandchildren, sister Marilyn Anderson of Harlan, Iowa, sister’s-in-law Jeanette (Louis) Kroger of Harlan, Iowa, Betty (Frank) Obermeier of Audubon, Iowa, and Jean (Leroy) Obermeier of Omaha, Nebraska and Darlene Obermeier Williamson.
