Blanche Elizabeth Brandenburg, 97 of Menlo passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, February 6th at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Stuart. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Rose Hill in Menlo. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stuart Community Care Center Foundation and sent in care of the funeral home. Blanche Elizabeth Brandenburg was born July 7, 1917 the daughter of Charles Eldridge Barnhouse and Emma Etta Mains Barnhouse on a farm northeast of Casey in Beaver Township. She attended Country School and Casey High School. She was united in marriage to Carl Brandenburg on April 8, 1939 and in 1944 they purchased a farm and lived there the rest of their lives enjoying farming very much. There were many neighbor boys that helped Carl and Blanche on the farm. Carl and Blanche helped raise Bill and Kenneth Brandenburg, both of whom are now deceased.
Blanche always enjoyed having family dinners at the farm. Her hobbies included: gardening, bowling, fishing, boating and traveling. Blanche enjoyed worshiping at the Menlo Methodist Church, where she was a member over 70 years and served as a member of the UMW Women. She was active in Adair County Farm Bureau, serving as chairperson, Garden Club and the Needlecraft Club. She loved working with people and will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Floyd and Wayne and a sister, Luene Guthrie.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
