Carole Virginia Fowlie Moore, age 74, from Casey, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home.
Carole was born January 4, 1948, in East Cambridge, Massachusetts and was adopted by Rosalee Woodward and Merlin W Fowlie. She lived many places in the United States, after having graduated from Billerica, Massachusetts, but always thought of herself as a “Mideasterner” as she spoke fondly of it in her many years. She worked several jobs including Southwestern Bell, and a store clerk at the Crow’s Nest in Casey, but her favorite job had to be as mother and wife. She was mostly known around Casey as the “dog lady” overseeing the Animal Licensing and Enforcement, and the spay and neuter efforts of the city before retiring to take care of her husband, Pat.
Carole was a collector of many things: music boxes, “Old Ironside”, books, Nascar, anything collie dog and much more. She was an avid reader, cross stitcher and crocheter: making kennel blankets for shelters, lap blankets for the nursing homes or friends, many baby blankets and full-size blankets for family members and friends. She was an animal lover of all kinds having spent many hours feeding “her critters” but especially collie dogs.
Carole was always willing to help anyone who asked and was a wealth of knowledge and advice to many of the neighborhood youth. Carole lived a hard but colorful life, though she never let it dim her desire to help and love others. As she was want to remind, her and her Lord “JC” were on good terms.
Carole is survived by her sons, Daniel (Laina) Lussier and Dean Lussier. Pat’s children; Kris (Robert) Cox, Patrick Moore, Jodi Moore. Grandchildren; Drake Kirkwood, Shandy Tate, Peyton Johnson, and great grandchild; Brayden Tate. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Earl “Pat” Moore and much-loved father, Merlin Fowlie.
She will be dearly missed by her family, close friends and neighbors.
Cremation took place at Johnson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Stuart. Memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter in Carole’s name.
