Damon Lee Ellsbury, 54, of Dexter passed away at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2014. No services are planned at this time. Damon was born March 8, 1960 to Darwin and Deann (Logan) Ellsbury in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He grew up in Gowrie and graduated from Prairie Community High School with the class of 1978. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. He was then commissioned as an Airborne Ranger where he served many missions jumping out of planes. After being discharged he made his home in Des Moines. On June 30, 1985 he was united in marriage to Doreen Warnock at Lake Pomme De Terre, Missouri. Damon was self employed for many years running his own glass repair business. The couple then made their home at Diamondhead Lake.
Damon loved fishing and camping weekends with his family. He enjoyed playing card games, playing video games, drawing and working crossword puzzles. He especially liked spending time with this grandchildren and family.
Damon was preceded in death by his parents Darwin and Deann Ellsbury.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen of Dexter; children: Leif Orr, Amanda (Nathan) Love of Dexter, Anastacia Ellsbury (fiancé Joshua Hike) of Dexter; grandchildren: Aron Love, Natilee Love, Noah Love, Kaylee Hike, Kinsey Shaw, Brady Hike, Heidi Hike; siblings: Jimmy Ellsbury, Jodi Ellsbury, Denise Johnson; several nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
