Dana was born October 11, 1956 in Audubon to Ivan and Marilyn (Larsen) Hansen. He grew up in the Casey area and graduated from Adair-Casey High School with the class of 1975. After high school, he enrolled at Iowa State University where he graduated in 1979 with a degree in Animal Science. Dana was employed for several Ag related businesses before taking a position with what is now known as Rolling Hills Bank in Casey where he worked for 26 years before being employed at Fareway in Greenfield for the past 6 years. He loved being on the farm and enjoyed raising cattle throughout the years. Dana was united in marriage to JoAnn Plagman on April 10, 1999 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a member of the Adair-Casey Conservation Club, Pheasants Forever, NRA Association, and Prairie Woodland Conservation Foundation. Dana was the happiest when he was outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and long walks in the timber. Dana was extremely proud of his children: Amanda who graduated from Iowa State University with a construction engineer degree, Nikki who graduated from Mercy School of Nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing and that he was able to help his son Dustin work on his Eagle Scout Project to achieve his Eagle Scout rank through Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa State Football, watching his son Dustin in his sporting events, but most of all he just enjoyed quality time spent with his family. He was extremely proud of the new addition to his family, his granddaughter, Aubrey.
He is survived by his beloved wife JoAnn Hansen of Casey; 3 children: Amanda (Nick Davisson) Hansen of Burlingame, California, Nikki (Joe) Bales and their daughter, Aubrey of Norwalk and Dustin Hansen of Casey; his mother Marilyn Hansen of Panora; siblings, Denise (Bob) Boyle of Perry, Dawn (Jonathan) Dalmas of Durham, North Carolina and Darrin Hansen of Smithville, Missouri, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Hansen, his grandparents Emanuel and Martha Hansen and Ludvig and Elna Larsen. (Arrangements: Johnson Family Funeral Home-Stuart Chapel).
