Kennie as he was known by family and friends, was born March 21, 1947 in Earlham, Iowa to W. Kenneth and Colleen “Chick” (Alkire) Gebbie. He was raised on a farm southwest of Dexter and graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1965. After graduated, Kennie worked a year and then enlisted into the United States Air Force. He served from May 27, 1966 to July 9, 1970 with most of this time spent overseas in Vietnam. After Kennie was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he returned to the area and started working construction. After several years of working construction when he was younger he started farming fulltime. Kennie enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool with his friends. Other enjoyments included, reading western books, playing scrabble with friends, watching Jeopardy, having a good cold beer and most importantly spending time with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Colleen Gebbie and his sister, Barbara Smith.
Kennie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Kenneth Gebbie Jr and his children, Kyle, Keegan, Grace and Bradley and Kasey Gebbie and his children, Jonathan and Zackery. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom will miss him greatly. (Arrangements: Johnson Family Funeral Home – Dexter Chapel).
