Larry Eugene Culver was born October 17, 1941 in Madison County, Iowa. He was the son of Earl D. and Opal V. (Greenbeck) Culver. Larry was the second of eight surviving children.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959. After high school, Larry held various jobs until he began working at Armstrong Tire and Rubber which later became Pirelli Tire and was later sold to Titan Tire.

Larry met the love of his life, Linda Kay Warburton while scooping the loop in downtown Des Moines in November 1960. They were united in marriage on October 20, 1961. This union was blessed with two children: Patricia and Michael.

For the first ten years of their marriage, they resided in Des Moines. However, in 1972 they made the move to Menlo, Iowa. During their years in Menlo, Larry and Linda raised their family, lovingly restored their home, participated in community activities, and made lifelong friends.

Larry worked for Armstrong/Pirelli/Titan Tire for forty years. Afterwards, Larry worked for Factory Motor Parts for approximately seven years; and NAPA for eight years. Larry’s work-ethic was second to none.

He was a member of Local 164 United Steel Workers’; AARP and a past volunteer of the Menlo Fire Department.

Larry loved going deer hunting with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Although he joked that over the years’ he had hit far more deer with his car than he ever had with a shotgun. He enjoyed attending sprint car races for many years but especially loved attending them or just watching them on television with his daughter and son-in-law.

Larry enjoyed taking road trips. He also loved to visit and reminisce with friends. Larry had a big heart, and he was always ready and willing to help his family, his neighbors, or the community. Many will remember his humor and kindness. He was, in fact the very definition of a “gentleman.” In recent years he enjoyed times spent at his son’s farm celebrating birthdays, holidays, and family reunions. He never missed an opportunity to hold a baby – whether crying or not.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was immensely proud of his family and he loved and cherished them.

Larry was baptized into the Christian faith in August 2012.

Those left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Linda; his daughter, Pat (Ben) Gilman, Menlo, Iowa, and their family – Kayla (Tonia) Gilman; Jessica Hove, Alexis Hove and Samantha Alexander; and his son, Michael (Debbie) Culver, Menlo, Iowa, and their family - Ashley (Dallas) Moore; and Michael (Ashley) Culver. His great-grandchildren: Sullivan, Anniston, and Collins Moore; and Laine Culver. With another great-grandchild expected soon.

Larry is also survived by his siblings: Dalby Culver; Gale Culver; Gary Culver; Joyce Eilbert; Wendell Culver; Bruce Culver; and Linda Kline.

As well as many other relatives and special friends.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Earl D. Culver, and Opal V. Culver; his stepmother, Evelyn Culver; an infant brother; his grandparents Gus and Bessie Greenbeck; Clinton and Blanche Culver; and his father and mother-in-law Richard and Margaret Warburton.
