Obituary for Marlis Helen Beeler
Marlis Helen (Webb) Beeler, 76, of Stuart, Iowa passed away September 12, 2019 at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 16, 2019 at Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 17 at the Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Stuart Chapel. Burial will follow the service in South Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Marlis Beeler Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Marlis was born May 22, 1943 in Harold, South Dakota to Frank and Beulah (Dalton) Webb. She grew up in the Stuart area and attended Stuart High School. Marlis was united in marriage to Charles Beeler on September 10, 1960 in Stuart and together they became the proud parents of three boys, Bradley, Mark and David. She worked for Equitable Life Insurance Company in Des Moines for 30 plus years before retiring. Following her retirement, Marlis worked for the Stuart Police Department. Marlis always took pride in her town and volunteered countless hours of community service back to it. She was a volunteer on the Stuart EMS in the 1970’s, helped with Congregate Meals and had a big part in helping start and run the Stuart Food Pantry. She was a longtime member of the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She loved her church, which was a source of inspiration and hope for her throughout her life. She also belonged to the United Methodist Women’s group, the Red Hat Society, Legion Auxiliary and the Stuart Lions Clubs. Marlis enjoyed watching birds, spending time with her family and friends and participating in many of the Stuart Traditions – Scoop the Loop.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Beulah Webb, her beloved husband Charles and one sister, JoAnne Mathern.
Marlis leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Bradley (Michele) Beeler of Pierre, South Dakota, Mark Beeler of West Des Moines and David (Jill) Beeler of Menlo; grandchildren, Michael (Jerika) Beeler, Marissa Beeler, Sara (Austin) Gafford and Laura Beeler; great-grandchildren, Brentley Beeler, Haidyn Buckner and Amelia Kromrie; sister Janet (DeWayne) Schreier of Seward, Nebraska and a host of other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
