Mary Sue was born on August 2, 1937 to Omer Ivan and Gertrude Pearl (Dupuy) Kirlin in Grove Township, Adair County, Iowa. She grew up near Rolfe, Iowa before moving to Redfield and graduating from Redfield High School. After high school, she took nursing courses and worked as a nurse’s aide for several years. On June 12, 1955 she was united in marriage to Marvin Beane in Stuart, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Robert, Debra, Steven and Dean. The family made their home in rural Redfield. Mary Sue spent many years working in the cafeteria at Dexfield Schools before purchasing the Dairy Inn in Redfield. She sold the Dairy Inn and after working as head cook for Meals on Wheels of Dallas County, she returned to the now Dairy Shoppe and worked there until the week of her passing. She was an excellent baker, winning numerous awards for her peach pies. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling around the state of Iowa and United States bowling. She also enjoyed sewing, bingo and gambling. Most of all she was known for volunteering and helping in any way that she was able.

She was a member of the Redfield Christian Church, Redfield Christian Women’s Fellowship and the Redfield American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Beane; parents, Ivan and Pearl Kirlin; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Kathy Kirlin and brother, Harold Kirlin.
