Obituary for Terry Marie Brent
Terry Marie (Bird) Brent, 56 of Stuart passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home south of Stuart. Memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. on Friday, June 26th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Stuart. Time of fellowship and light meal will follow the service at the New Beginnings Open Bible Church in Stuart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the West Central Valley FFA. Terry was born on June 6, 1964 to Ronald and Gwendolyn (Ritzhaupt) Bird in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Cedar Rapids where she attended elementary and junior high. The family later moved to Altoona where she graduated from Southeast Polk High School. Terry later attended DMACC receiving a degree in early childhood development. She worked many years as a Mail Clerk at the Des Moines Register before her retirement; later working as a para-educator at West Central Valley Schools where she treasured her time she was able to spend with all of the children.
On July 19, 1991 she was united in marriage to Peter Brent in Des Moines. The couple made their home in Des Moines for one year before moving to Stuart. Terry was very active as a VBS Trainer for the Iowa Baptist Convention, IBC children's camp, Upward Basketball Camp, Campers on Mission, Southern Baptist Connection Disaster Relief, and the WCV FFA and 4-H groups. She loved canning and cooking, especially jellies and jams. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandbabies and sharing the Good news of Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Bird Sr.
Terry leaves behind her loving husband, Peter of Stuart; children: Tony (Sara) Brent of Altoona and their children: Airam, Lincoln and Carter; Megan (John) Thompson of Des Moines and their son, Pierce; David Brent (Bob Losee) of Des Moines; Hawley (Alex) Peichl of Story City and their daughter, Eleanor; Gwendolyn Brent of Stuart; Blake Brent of Stuart; and Gavin Cook of Stuart; mother, Gwendolyn Bird of Altoona; siblings: Ronald Bird Jr. of Des Moines, Tim Bird of Altoona, and Cindy Shepherd of Cedar Rapids; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
