Thurlow Harrison Foresman was born in Guthrie Center on November 15, 1937 to Marvel and Dorothy (Coe) Foresman. He was named after the Doctor who delivered him. He grew up in Monteith attending Valley #8 and GCHS where he graduated in 1957. During this time his love was a 1958 Crown Victoria, pink & white ford car and his motorcycle which he secretly kept hid in GCHS shop room for over a year until his parents found out. Thurlow also drove the school bus for GCHS before he started working for Guthrie County working at the gravel pit and driving a gravel truck.
In 1960 he married Donna Ann McCurdy of Panora. During his married life they lived in Panora, rural Monteith (Mildred Branson farm) and Monteith where they would raise their four children. His career with Guthrie County through the years continued to offer different positions and he ran the dragline for a few years and operated the road grader, retiring after 38 years of service to the county.
Thurlow was active in the Guthrie County Fair for over 50 years serving in different capacities from tickets, maintenance, to the Chief of Police for fair security. He also served on the Menlo Coon Valley Telephone Association Board of Directors many years. During his “retirement years” he drove semi for Bascom Trucking for a few years-something he always wanted to do. In 2003 Thurlow and Donna moved to Bayard where he would reside until entering the Thomas Rest Haven nursing home in 2012. Thurlow enjoyed bowling, livestock, horses and gardening but most of all he loved his Harley motorcycle which he drove in area parades and celebrations.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna and his parents.
Surviving are his children Jane (Ken) Lockling of Harvard Nb.; Mark of Bayard; Kim knueven of Harvard Nb.; and Lisa (Graden) Scovill of Afton Wy.; one sister, Loretta (Ben) Sloss of Stuart. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
