Craig was born on August 25, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to Delores (Beer) and John Thomas McFarland Sr. He spent his early childhood in Des Moines before moving to Stuart.
Craig spent his final years in Stuart with his fiancé, Kim Avey, and family. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football. Craig worked in West Des Moines as a school bus driver, the City of West Des Moines, and Cardinal Glass; but his favorite job was managing the Stuart Skating Rink. Anybody that knew Craig, knows how much he loved joking around with anyone and everyone, especially loved ones. Craig enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. Craig enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He also enjoyed spending time in Florida.
Greeting him in Heaven are his parents; and brothers: Christopher, Kevin, and John Jr.
Left to cherish his memories are his fiancée, Kim Avey of Stuart; children: April (Kevin) Hewitt of Deltona, Florida, Lindsay (Derrick) Hess of Independence, Iowa, Christopher Rochholz of Des Moines; siblings: Kenny (Ellen) McFarland of Redfield, Jeff (Cindi) McFarland of West Des Moines, Tom (Kerry) McFarland of Stuart; father and mother-in-law, Chuck and Nadine Avey of Stuart; brothers-in-law, Chuck (Isa) Avey of Casey and Scott Avey of Casey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; “adopted” grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors that were like family will miss him dearly.
