Obituary for Donna Ruth Ford
Donna Ruth Ford, 78 of La Vernia, Texas formerly of Stuart passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Country Care Manor in La Vernia. Visitation will be held from 10-11 A.M. on Friday, February 21st at the Johnson Family Funeral Home – Stuart Chapel. Interment will take place following the visitation at the South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Donna was born on July 24, 1941 to Floyd and Pauline (Lynch) Strong in Dexter, Iowa. She grew up in Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1959. Following high school she attended AIB Business School for courtroom reporting. She later worked as an in-home caregiver.
She was united in marriage to Mitchell Ford; to this union two sons were born: Brian and Steven. The couple made their home in Omaha. Donna suffered a brain aneurysm early on; despite this set-back she fought to recover. She lived a number of years at Country View Estates in Guthrie Center, until she moved to Des Moines to be closer to her sister Sharon and later moved to Country Care Manor in LaVernia to spend her remaining years with her son Steven. She always had a big smile and was always “happy go lucky”. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mitchell Ford.
Donna leaves behind her sons, Brian (Lorain) Ford of Louisville, NE and Steven (Cordy) Ford of Floresville, TX; grandchildren: Kevin (Michelle) Ford and their children: Raylin, Kaiden, Ryder and Easton; Ryan (Jeana) Matcha; Beth Ford, Grace Regna and her children: Phoenix, Lilith, Leland and Addilyn; Samantha (T.J.) Turner and their children Jackson, Annaleigh and Fionn; Chad Pocock; Chelsea Leonard and her children, Elijah and Austin; siblings, Sharon (Jim) Martes and Jim (Carolyn) Strong; and a host of extended family and friends that will miss her dearly.
