Kathryn was born October 21, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa to Claire Francis and Norine (Shroyer) Culver. She grew up in Panora and graduated from Panora-Linden High School with the class of 1968. She was united in marriage to Paul F. Merical on April 12, 1966, in Redfield at Hilltop Chapel. To this union six children were born: Paul Jr., Jill, Janice, Daniel, Peggy, and Phillip. Following their marriage, they lived in Linden and Redfield before settling on the acreage outside of Redfield. Kathryn cleaned homes and businesses for many years in Redfield, but her favorite part of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and being around other family. Family was everything to her and Paul. They enjoyed attending all their children’s and grandchildren’s school events, missing very few throughout the years. Kathryn was a member of Hilltop Chapel in Redfield, where she developed many friendships, attended with her family, and helped in many events over the years such as Operation Christmas Child. Her favorite part of Sunday was after church when she enjoyed having the family over for dinner with plenty of food and the playing of card games to follow. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, was a collector of Fenton and Avon glassware, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son Paul Merical, Jr, her parents, Claire and Norine Culver, grandparents, Francis and Sabina Culver and Stuart and Erma Shroyer and one brother, Terry Lee Culver.
Kathryn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Paul Merical of Redfield; children, Jill Merical of Redfield, Janice (Paul) Topliff of Ft. Meyers Fl, Daniel Merical of Redfield, Peggy (Nate) Speichinger of Dexter, and Phillip Merical of Redfield; siblings, Larry (Marilyn) Culver and Diana Culver; grandchildren, Jade and her husband Jake, Jenna, Tasha, Tia, Talia, Katelyn, Krysten, Kassidy, Kelsey, Kylie, Kasen, Kallan, Abigail, Josef, Bethany, Micah, Meleah, and Kassia; great-grandchildren, Meah and Elias and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
