Obituary for Lucy Hall
Lucy Hall, 94 of Casey passed away at her home on Monday, September 8, 2014. Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, September 11th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 12th at the Casey United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Casey United Methodist Church and/or the Casey Public Library, in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250.

Lucy was born March 5, 1920 to Claude and Ida Mae (Moore) Devilbiss in Redfield, Iowa. She attended grade school in Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School with the class of 1938. On February 3, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leon Hall. To this union three sons were born: LeRoy, Marvin and Ronald. The family lived in many areas throughout Iowa and Missouri. The couple finally made their home in Casey. Lucy then went back to attend Drake University in Des Moines to get her Teacher’s Certificate. She worked in rural schools as a teacher and a file clerk for an insurance company.

Lucy was an active member of the Casey United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and serving in the United Methodist Women’s organization. She was also a member of the Highland Church for many years, continuing to help them after she had moved away. She was active in Rebeckah Lodge. Lucy enjoyed reading, baking and needle point work. She was active in maintaining the campground at the city park and always checked in on elderly neighbors and friends in town. Most important to Lucy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Hall; parents, Claude and Ida Mae Devilbiss; sons, Ronald Hall and Marvin Hall; daughter-in-law, Rita Hall.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, LeRoy (Nora) Hall; daughter-in-law, Marlynn Hall; grandchildren: Christine, Elizabeth, Thomas, Ronda, Matthew and Jason; great-grandchildren: Curtis, Brett, Zachary, Grant, Anna, Lyle, Paige, Austin, Sarah, Raven, Damian and Skylar; great-great-grandchildren, Chance and JaVi; and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly.
