Obituary for Tommie Ray Montanye
Tommie Ray Montanye, 60, of Dexter, Iowa passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Mercy West Lakes Hospital. A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place Friday, August 9, 2019 at Tommie's home 505 Marshall Street, Dexter, Iowa 50070. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tommie Montanye Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Tommie Ray Montanye was born January 31, 1959 to Leroy Earl and Georgene Lorraine (Billings) Montanye in Waterloo, Iowa. Tom attended school in Stuart, IA. Tom married in 1980 and divorced in 1985, to which three children were born to the union; two daughters Tiffany Lorraine Montanye, Heidi Ray (Montanye) Kerwin, and son Sean Ryan-William Montanye. Tom later married Diane Lynne Murphy in Dexter, IA December 21, 1991 and welcomed her sons Ben and Ian Patterson, and Gregg and Jake Lawson into his life and family.
Tom worked for many years as an end loader operator for Peters Construction and then Hallett Construction with his father Leroy. Tom had the reputation around Des Moines for having the most accurate loads around. Tom enjoyed peanut M&M’s, riding his Harley, and being with his kids, grandkids, and friends.
Tom left this earth on August 2, 2019 to join his family and friends in heaven, leaving behind his cherished wife Diane, daughters Tiffany Montanye (Las Vegas, NV), children Aydan and Joplyn; Heidi (Corey) Kerwin (Creston, IA), children Rayleigh and Gunnar. Sons Sean (Amanda) Montanye (Creston, IA), children Wyatt, Jace, and Mason; Ben (special friend Alicia Fredericksen) Patterson (Casey, IA), children Brad (Nadine) Patterson (PA) and Josie (Austin) Cook (Dexter, IA), children Jalaya and Maeleigh; Ian Patterson (Des Moines, IA), children Christopher, Allison, and Andrew; Gregg (Jennifer) Lawson (Stuart, IA), children Cael and Evelyn; and Jake (Monica) Lawson (Stuart, IA), children Blaine and Gannon. Mother-in-law Marjorie Murphy, two sisters, one brother, and numerous extended family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, his father-in-law, grandson, Etzio, and his dog (best friend), Randy.
