Obituary for Loren Henry Davis
Loren Davis, 91, of Stuart, formerly of Redfield passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Stuart Community Care Center. Services will be held at 2 P.M., Monday, March 14th at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, rural Adel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Harper Cemetery, near Redfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to Panther Creek Church, Stuart CCC Foundation and/or St. Croix Hospice and sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Loren was born on August 27, 1924 in Redfield, the second son of Carl and Gladys (Smith) Davis. He lived at his birth residence until March, 1935 when he moved with his parents and brother to a large farm in Dallas County. He attended Redfield Consolidated Schools, graduating in May, 1942. Loren spent 34 months in the United States Army, stationed in Hawaii and Siapan Island in the South Pacific Theater of operations.
Loren was married in February, 1946 to Nellie Mae Book and began farming near Granger in March, 1946. He returned to Dallas County to farm for 11 years, then he spent 5 years in Mesa, AZ. He returned to farm his family farm for 26 more years. In December, 1976 he was united in marriage to Elveda Clark. Loren retired from farming November, 1986 and the couple lived in rural Stuart for 5 years. They returned to the Redfield area in 1992 and remained there until moving to The Willows in April, 2014.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elveda; and brother, Harold.
He leaves behind his children, Linda (David) Lantz of Redfield and Larry (Dode) Davis of Adel; grandchildren: Tony (Regina) Davis and their children Ana and Carter; Christine Blaine and her son, Aarron (Ashley) and their children, Kennedy and McKenzie; Lisa Lantz (Scott Bassford) and their children, Van and Gray; Dustin (Cristin) Lantz and their children, Isaac and Lily; and a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
