Obituary for Emmah Elizabeth Aldrich
Emmah Elizabeth Aldrich was offered her angel wings on Friday evening, April 15th, 2016, while sleeping peacefully in her home. She left her earthly family to join the other angels in heaven on April 17th at 10:17AM from the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Her generous heart continued to beat strongly until she shared her final gifts with multiple organ recipients on April 18th at 9 pm. Emmah’s final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Emmah gracefully entered the world on June 27, 2013, and has been dancing ever since. Her life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by Emmah understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her infectious giggle, her little songs, her sweet voice saying “snug-u-me” and so many warm hugs and kisses remain in our hearts and memories.
She spent hours reading stories, playing dress up, enjoying tot time with her friends, and snuggling close to those she loved so much. Emmah enjoyed dancing to music, swimming, and anything Frozen or Elsa related - not to mention teenage Dora. She loved wrestling with her big brother, Oliver, was nearly inseparable from her big sister, Eleanor, and adored her baby brother, Evrett. Her favorite colors were lavender and pink. Emmah had an affinity for the outdoors, be it in the backyard, fishing, or visiting Grandma and Grandpa’s farm. Emmah had the ability to enjoy every moment. To her, each day was a blessing - an opportunity to create lasting memories.
With Emmah’s passing, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, Emmah will forever remain in our hearts.
Emmah is survived by her loving parents, Ben and Carla Aldrich, brothers Oliver (7yrs) and Evrett (5mo), sister Eleanor (4yrs) of Iowa City, Iowa; her maternal grandparents, Carl and Shirley Lemke of Adair, Iowa, and paternal Grandmother, Diane Saltzman of Adel, Iowa, aunts and uncles Roxanne (Kevin) Power of Des Moines Iowa, Rosalie (John) Tunink of Des Moines, Iowa, Debbie (Rodney) Jackson of Mt, Moriah, MO, Lenard (Susan) Lemke of Casey, Iowa; Edward (Barb) Lemke of Fontanelle, IA,; Kyle (Jean) Lemke of Audubon, IA; Chris Lemke of Adair, Iowa and Neil (Ashley) Aldrich of Adel, IA numerous cousins and extended family.
